For a long time, breakdancing/breaking was part of a culture in which women were accessories and were not allowed to be strong, confident and wild. Frieda, Jilou and Viola have worked hard for their place in the scene. For them, dancing means freedom, and the three of them follow their own individual paths: B-Girl Jilou is at the peak of her career and is now one of the best in the world.
While she wins one battle after another with enormous determination, Frieda struggles with an injury. As a B-girl from the very beginning, she has to accept that as she gets older she can no longer rely on her body and finds life after professional sports. Above all, B-Girl Viola wants to be perceived as a dancer and combines breaking with contemporary dance. For them, every battle is also a fight for their artistic identity. Jilou is now training for the German team for the Olympics and is one of the hot medal candidates. DANCING HEARTBEATS is an inspiring film about the courage to make dreams come true and pave the way for yourself and the next generation.
