Kinders follows children and teenagers of different origins through their sometimes difficult and confusing, sometimes funny and bitter lives. They all take part in the music education program ((superar)), where these neglected and sometimes invisible children develop from outsiders into confident young people who learn about their hidden potentials through the power of music.

Fireworks basiert auf einer wahren Kriminalgeschichte, dem sogenannten "Delitto di Giarre", das Anfang der 1980er zur Gründung von "Arcigay - Associazione LGBTI+ italiana" geführt hat, dem bis heute wichtigsten Verband für queere Bürger:innenrechte in Italien. Der Film von Giuseppe Fiorello zeichnetein authentisches Porträt der höchst problematischen Lebenssituation von Schwulen im italienischen Süden nicht nur jener Jahre.
